Progress & Prosperity for the Philippine Countryside!

Formerly the Kanayunan Techno-Transfer Group, inc. (Kanayunan : Tagalog vernacular of 'for the countryside'), the KANAYUNAN Agri-Plus, inc. (KAPi) is a non-government organization serving as a conduit for the development and improvement of agricultural livelihood and technologies in the Philippine countryside. Through the maximized use of the latest in multi-media technologies, innovative communications and digital technical expertise, KAPi, through its Kaalaman Plus! ("Kaalaman" = Knowledge) or KPlus! Campaign, aims to help bring these agricultural technologies to the countryside in the fastest, most efficient and most cost-effective manner. The KPlus! Campaign was bannered by the TV show bearing the same title (KPlus!) finished its trial season airing (13 weeks) on RPN-9 back in Dec. 24, 2005. As we look for new like-Passion and Mission-oriented donor-partners, we now are aiming our sights to get back on air - with Internet Streaming Broadcast as its New Backbone/Foundation, a move we believe to be more focused in reaching our intended target audience, the 'NEW' Filipino farmer-entrepreneur.

The KPlus! Campaign, spearheaded by the KPlus! TV program was launched last September 2005. Sequentially, the Samahang KPlus!(KPlus! Group) was also born, composed of farmer KPlus! TV viewers and other groups and cooperatives members garnered through the TV show and with the help of Kanayunan’s initial donor-partners. Presently, we have more than 800 Samahang KPlus! members, Add to this are member organizations of the Bayanihan Savings Replication Program (DILG), FITS-Techno Gabay Program (PCARRD-DOST) and the ITCPH (DA) trainings alumni.

The theme of the KPlus! Campaign is “Mula sa Farm Hanggang Hapag Kainan” (From the Farm to the Dining Table) consisting of a five-point agenda that will:

1) basically align with the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) food program initiatives;
2) partner with private animal health companies, genetics companies, and crop science and protection companies;
3) extend product benefits from donor-partners to Samahang KPlus! members and aligning with and/or develop agri-stores within or in the vicinity of the Samahang KPlus! members’ locale;
4) consolidate & validate latest technologies from donor-partners to augment local conditions via the creation of a model research and development farm; and
5) link with food processing and manufacturers organizations i.e.- the Slaughterhouse Operators Association of the Philippines (SOAP) and the Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc. (PAMPI) to procure the produce of Samahang KPlus!.

Additionally, The KPlus! Campaign is aligned to address 4 key components:

1. The creation of more jobs – Livelihood programs for the members of Samahang KPlus! in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology through the Techno-Gabay program of PCARRD and the Department of Interior and Local Government through the Bureau of Local Government Development – Bayanihan Savings Replication Program.

2. Everyone of school age shall be in school in an uncrowded classroom in surroundings conducive to learning - The KPlus! Campaign includes a school-on-air agriculture-technology program with the Gintong Kaalaman Library. Likewise, information transfer through cellular mobile capability of SMS and MMS, along with traditional seminars, conventions and outreach programs, are designed to support continuing and non-traditional basic livelihood education.

3. The network of transport and digital infrastructure…. will have linked the entire country. – In tandem with no. 2, emphasis on digital infrastructure through the latest in information technology and digital media, the target is to install current and reliable PCs with internet connections in every barangay where KAPi is.

4. Metro Manila will be decongested with economic activity growing and spreading to new centers of government, business and community in Luzon, in the Visayas and in Mindanao – In developing the potential of agriculture as a viable business that can provide sustainable livelihood, the KPlus! Campaign is to entice the Diaspora of urban dwellers and initiate their return to a productive and progressive countryside.

With all these, we now invite you to join us in the mission of helping elevate the quality of our Filipino brothers’ & sisters' agricultural livelihood in the countryside. Support the KPlus! Campaign by being a member of Samahang KPlus!
